FEMALE RIDER GRABS WORLD RECORD FASHION BECOMES MOTO INSPIRED

By thatcarlady

I’ll be forever under-dressed, whether on a motorcycle or not, but thanks to Ana Carrasco, an inspirational female rider, and a growing female motorcycle constituency, even the fashion designers are paying attention to women in motorsports.

When preparing for a motorcycle ride, on the street or getting ready to play in the dirt, protective gear is top on my mind. Frequently my jersey top does not even match my riding pants. However, females are becoming more common on local tracks and at international events. Thanks to these high profile riders and observant high end fashion designers you can now dress with moto style for even the fanciest of evening events.

While these fashions are beyond both my style threshold and pocketbook it is nice to see MOTO themed fashion on the runways. Do you think anyone will be able to tell the difference if I show up to a nice restaurant in my jersey and motorcross mesh? I promise I’ll leave my chest guard at home…

The underlying story here is of 20 year old Ana Carrasco becoming the first woman to win an individual world championship motorcycle race. Needless to say…there are very few females in the sport. Ana began riding at just 3 years old and started racing internationally at 16. Her world championship was claimed on September 17th in the Supersport 300 class.

Check out the lady in pink showing some fellows how fast a motorcycle can really go, as well as the moto styled fashions that are making their way into the fashion world.

“Carrasco’s championship comes amid a resurrection of the motocross trend on the Spring 2018 runways too. In fact, she came barreling through that finish line in Portimão just days after Rihanna staged what was unequivocally the most exciting show of New York Fashion Week, complete with a full lineup of models in neon Fenty x Puma motocross gear, motorcycle stuntmen, and a final “bow” by the Bad Gal herself on the back of a dirt bike. A couple of weeks later in Paris, Maria Grazia Chiuri spliced edgy racer-inspired leather jumpsuits and pants into her girl-power-fueled collection for Christian Dior. At Balenciaga, Demna Gvasalia went from the rear-view mirror bags of Fall 2017 to top handles resembling the rear trunk of a shiny new Kawasaki.”
